Sexual Harassment Prevention in the Workplace

10:oo am – 11:30am
In-person at the Tompkins County Public Library, Borg Warner Room
FREE to local area nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers
Pre-registration is required.

Sexual Harassment is an all too prevalent issue within our workplaces. While prohibited, many individuals within the human service sector identify unwanted behaviors from co-workers, volunteers, or those we serve which make it difficult to continue their work. Employers have a legal responsibility to provide education, policy, and appropriate responses to prevent or address sexual harassment.

Participants will:

  • Understand how NYS defines sexual harassment and prohibited behaviors
  • Learn from real life examples of sexual harassment relevant to non-profits
  • Understand their employee rights and reporting options
  • Be introduced to the concept of a culture of respect.

This training meets the standards outlined by NYS for annual Sexual Harassment Prevention Training but will not include content on conducting Sexual Harassment Investigations.

About the Presenter:
Kristi is the Director of Leadership Development & Consulting Services at the Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County. Kristi brings over 15 years of professional experience working in the non-profit community with a specific focus in domestic violence and sexual assault victim service organizations. Additionally, Kristi provides empowerment based self defense courses to those who live and identify as women, girls, and the LGBTQ+ community. Kristi is a skilled and knowledgeable trainer on the topics of abuse, trauma, and prevention strategies; who is passionate about improving community responses and safety for all. By bringing together her various work experiences and insights, Kristi provides high quality, knowledgeable, empathetic, and engaging learning environments for participants.
